"We could have played better"
from arsenal.com

Dennis Bergkamp knows that our display against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup semi-final was below par.

Battling Boro prevented us from playing our usual free-flowing style at Old Trafford and will feel aggrieved at having been beaten by Gianluca Festa's first-half own goal.

Bergkamp acknowledges that our performance could have been much more impressive, but insists that the winning result is the only thing that really matters.

"It was not the best of games, but from Middlesbrough's point of view they did very well," he said.

"We did not play as well as we could have done. We did not pass the ball or make it very difficult for them.

"We should have done a bit better, but the most important thing was to go through. We are in the Final and that's the main thing as far as we are concerned."

The victory over Middlesbrough sets up a mouthwatering clash against London rivals Chelsea in the Final on May 4 in Cardiff.

Victory in the Millennium Stadium could clinch an historic third Double, but Bergkamp knows we must put all thoughts of the Final aside for now with key Premiership games on the horizon.

"The win against Boro was another job done, but now we have to focus on the league and make sure we keep doing well in those games before thinking too much about the FA Cup Final."
